Welcome to Aviles Street, St Augustine, Florida, 32084
Aviles Street is the oldest street in the USA and rich in art, history and culture. We have the best local art galleries  and outdoor dining with forgotten tonics right on our oldest street, Aviles Street. On this ancient cobblestone street you can also discover on Aviles Street, 4 historical museums, two with gift shops, a historic well, shops and galleries with antique maps and prints, local writers, sculptures, local paintings, abstract, collage, seascapes and plein -air , blown glass and stained glass, leather Craft, knive-making, wood-turning and custom jewelry. There are several Bed and Breakfasts' on Aviles Street as well as a cocktail bar and restaurants, Italian, American and Cuban cuisine, and Peace Pies, as well as several wedding reception destinations.

Across the street from the General Kirby House, which is now the home to the Historic Society is the Hamblen- Holiday Building. We are in the process of being renovated and recently completed a facelift to the exterior.  Built in 1864 and 1885, the building is actually 2 warehouse buildings built by Hamblen Hardware that were joined together and renovated into studio spaces starting in the 1930's. This building now houses retail spaces/galleries on  Aviles Street and Charlotte Street and artists' studios on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

Aviles Street in St Augustine Florida is the original art district as well as the location for an early church, cemetary, a jail, hospitals, a playhouse, boarding houses and schools. Through the years there have been restaurants and shops and memorable people selling their wares.  Later in the 1960's it was the original location of the Tropical Tradewinds Lounge. Aviles Street was renovated a few years ago with help from the city and was made  sidewalk cafe friendly and now is the home to bar and  restaurants with sidewalk seating.
