Aviles Street in St Augustine Florida is the oldest street in the nation and an original art district as well as the location for an early church, cemetary, a jail, hospitals, boarding houses and schools. Through the years there have been alot of stores and memorable people selling their wares.  Later in the 1960's it was the original location of the Tradewinds Bar. Aviles Street was renovated a few years ago with help from the city and was made  sidewalk cafe friendly and now is the home to bar and  restaurants with sidewalk seating.

Across the street from the General Kirby House, which is now the home to the Historic Society is the Hamblen- Holiday Building. Built between 1864 and 1885, the building is actually 2 warehouse buildings used by Hamblen Hardware that were joined together and renovated into studio spaces. This building now houses retail spaces on  Aviles Street and Charlotte Street and artists' studios on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

In the 80's, the building housed the Aviles Street Restaurant serving Swedish Pancakes and Comachos serving Cuban Fare. These were popular places to  eat. Following in its history of artists and crative people in the building we now house the 11 Aviles Street Artsists and Craftsmen Guild. on the web www.11avilesstreet.com
